The NOAA figures cover weather and climate disasters that met its billion-dollar threshold. Insurance figures use homeowners multiple-peril policy data from ISO, reported by Triple-I.
Those insurance tables exclude Alaska, Texas, and Puerto Rico, along with renters and condominium-owner policies. They are useful national context, not a measure of Texas claim activity or a prediction of any individual loss.
